Markdown Basics

By Gibberish

In Gibberish, you can use Markdown to format your text.

I chose Markdown because it’s mostly plain text. If you don’t know Markdown, you can still write your posts just as they are.

But if you want to add some formatting to your posts, you can do it with some minimal syntax.

For instance, typing **like this** gives you bold text, while typing *like this* results in italics.

Creating a list is as easy as
* doing
* this.

And for an ordered list, you can simply
1. do
2. this.

Oh wait, I’ve got one more thing to show you. Here’s a quote from the Markdown website:

Markdown is intended to be as easy-to-read and easy-to-write as is feasible.

Readability, however, is emphasized above all else. A Markdown-formatted document should be publishable as-is, as plain text, without looking like it’s been marked up with tags or formatting instructions.

Since quoted texts are kind of like messages from other people, I decided to show them this way.
